Lankayan Island

Virtually uninhabited, located in the stunning blue, Sulu Sea, Lankayan Island is thick with tropical vegetation and rimmed by a pearly white sand beach. Considered one of the best spots for whale shark sightings the island is home to the only dive resort in Malaysia's Sulu Sea (Lankayan Island Dive Resort) . Also known to inhabit the area are black-tip sharks as well as hawksbill and green turtles which are often spotted coming to shore. With a wide array of colorful hard and soft corals, the area is the perfect habitat for fascinating palate of tropical fish. Wooden bungalows are available to rent, and the perfect spot to relax after a day of diving the Lankayan Wreck, the remains of a fishing boat that sung in the area.
